Online dating har revolutioneret måden, vi finder kærlighed på, og samtidig introduceret en række nye ord og begreber som ghosting, benching og breadcrumbing. Fra Tinder til Happn - datinglandskabet har aldrig været det samme.
Swipe, match, ghosting. Ordforrådet inden for online dating er vokset markant i takt med, at stadig flere danskere har kastet sig ud i at finde kærligheden på nettet. 10'erne har budt på en sand eksplosion af nye måder at date på, og det har affødt en stribe nye ord og begreber.
Fra Tinder til Happn
Tinder var et af de første dating-apps, der for alvor fik fat i danskerne. Med sin simple swipe-funktion, hvor man hurtigt kan bladre igennem potentielle partnere, blev det nemt og uforpligtende at date online. Siden er en række andre apps som Happn og Bumble kommet til, hver med deres egen twist på online dating.
"Tinder har virkelig banet vejen for, at online dating er blevet mainstream. I starten var der måske lidt berøringsangst, men nu er det blevet helt almindeligt at date på nettet," fortæller parterapeut Mette Holm.
Ghosting og benching
Men med de nye muligheder er der også opstået nogle mindre flatterende fænomener. Et af de mest omtalte er nok 'ghosting', hvor man pludselig afbryder al kontakt uden varsel.
"Ghosting er desværre blevet ret udbredt med dating apps. Nogle synes, det er lettere bare at forsvinde end at sige direkte, at man ikke er interesseret," siger Mette Holm.
Et andet begreb er 'benching', hvor man holder en potentiel partner hen, mens man kigger efter andre muligheder. Altså at have nogen på 'bænken' som reserve.
Breadcrumbing og haunting
To andre ord, der er dukket op, er 'breadcrumbing' og 'haunting'. Breadcrumbing er, når nogen sender små flirtende beskeder for at holde interessen ved lige, uden egentlig at ville forpligte sig.
Haunting refererer til, at en person, man har datedated, pludselig dukker op igen - ofte på sociale medier, hvor de måske liker ens opslag eller følger en, selv om man troede, det var slut.
"Nogle af de her ting har altid foregået i dating-verdenen, men med sociale medier og dating-apps er det bare blevet meget mere synligt. Og så har vi fået sat nogle ord på," siger Mette Holm.
Kærlighed ved første swipe
Selvom 10'erne har budt på både positive og negative sider af online dating, mener Mette Holm, at det samlet set har gjort det nemmere at finde en partner.
"Apps som Tinder har gjort det mere acceptabelt at date online. Jeg hører tit om par, der har fundet hinanden ved første swipe. Så mulighederne er der helt sikkert," siger hun.
Måske har du selv været ude for både ghosting og haunting - eller måske har du fundet dit livs kærlighed på Tinder. Uanset hvad kan vi se tilbage på et årti, der for alvor har forandret vores måde at date på.
Og mon ikke 20'erne byder på endnu flere nye dating-begreber, vi skal lære? Kun tiden vil vise det. Men én ting er sikkert: Online dating er kommet for at blive.
